Default Anatomy of a Head Shot

Learned a bit about this in the military. Anyone have any issues with the details of presentation?

So even a .22lr from a pistol penetrates the skull?

Nothing is a sure bet way to many variables.
Skull thickness, shot placement, barrel length ammo choice.
Can they without a doubt yes maybe but not my first choice by any means.

Not much to disagree about but there should have been more emphasis on the general inability of handgun rounds to penetrate the skull which is why ocular window shots are taught in handgun classes. Rifle round velocity is another matter which the video did stress.

But not only is the low velocity of handgun rounds an issue. The low velocity combined with the curved nature of the skull often allows slower handgun rounds to "skim" around the exterior surface of the skull resulting in a failure to penetrate. This is exactly what happened to one of the rounds fired in the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II in Rome in 1981.

I watched the whole thing. Interesting, technical stuff. Bigger is better, closer is better, multiple shots are better. Kinda common sense stuff ain't it?

Thats the key, If you have to carry a 22 it always seems like it is assumed you will only be taking a single shot. Its not like it has much recoil and as long as it is going bang, keep up the fire.
