    Default Handgun

Hello. I am very new here. I am not sure if the hp I am looking for is avilb. I have a serial number and I am trying to find out of its stolen or who it is registered to. Is there a way to find out??

💡Try contacting your local state police or possibly . https://www.atf.gov/philadelphia-fie...-field-offices

State or local police can do it but be prepared to answer why you want it done? Why do you suspect it might be stolen.
Was this bought legally or transferred thru a dealer?

And there will be many more questions if it does come back stolen!

I see that you are in Gibtown, FL (carney?). Florida does maintain a database of stolen items, including firearms. Here is a link to the site...

    Good luck.

*Note: OP is in Florida according to OP's profile

    Katrina,

I can only guess as to why you might ask such questions.

If you are asking who it might be registered to, I can assume that you did not buy it?

Perhaps you found the gun. If so turn it in to the police. Don't play "Finder's Keepers" with a gun that may have bad mojo attached to it.

No agency is going to reveal ownership info (or at least they are not supposed to)

Seriously - you guys can understand the question?
I'm not trying to be rude, but it reads more like a foreign spammer than an actual question.

There is no gun registration in Florida, Unlike PA., which has an unlawful registration system. Why are you asking this on a PA gun owner site?
Take it to the state police in Florida. But, make sure you have a lawyer on call.

I've read it about times and am unsure.

"avilb" is availability I assume, but I can't figure out what "hp" would mean in that sentence.

Anyways, Katrina, there is no firearms registration in PA, it's illegal to have one. As others said, if you're in possession of a found handgun, just take it to the police and be done with it.

Just to expand on the topics mentioned , I'd like to know why FFL's do not have access to the NICS stolen gun database , and PA dealers do not have access to the PSP database. Back in my dealer days , the shop I worked at did take in a few guns that unknown to us , were stolen. PSP and ATF showed up with a list after the person who brought them in was arrested and told where he sold them. We followed the law , logged them in the book and had the sellers info (I actually knew/went to HS with him) . They took the guns , the shop was just out a few hundred bucks. Months later I was called to testify , but he pleaded out. Dealer access just might have avoided this.
