There has been plenty of talk of the so called epidemic of gun violence yet there has been no talk of imposing stiffer penalties on those who commit crimes with guns.

The worst is that a significant percentage of the "perps" should have been in jail for past stuff, and will manage (if they're caught and charged) to plead the charges down to no or minimal jail time. There's no hope for some of these people, and they need to be sent away for some time. The long term solution is a change in culture, which can't be legislated or forced and needs to come from within the affected population. That will only happen when they stop watching TV, wake up, stop blaming others for their problems and work to move forward at current market value and progress with experience, skills and work ethic.. My guess is that it will take 2 generations if it's going to happen at all, and don't see it happening in what's left of my lifetime.
