Re: Killing an alligator
Gators can briefly dash 35 mph over land, and do 20 mph in water. You will not outrun it if you don't see and avoid it from a distance.
My parents lived in suburban New Port Richie on a lake. Great bass fishing. Great gator fishing too. I hooked a 4-footer with a popper. Still have it. It's full of dents, as in dentition. The gator swam away, went through a connector pipe to the next lake. Never saw it again.
'Course, I was just visiting.
One day their phone rang. It was a neighbor warning them not to exit their garage via the pedestrian door. A gator was sunning on the concrete pad.
Another neighbor had a small poodle they used to let out to pee or whatever. Gator in the water, poodle sees it, yap yap yap yap yap....
SPLASH....silence.
Gators are not a threat on a scale of their lurking with intent to attack. Problem gators are captured and moved with a phone call.Last edited by Bang; June 19th, 2021 at 02:41 PM.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
