    thing i like about savage/stevens guns is it always seems someone is making parts for them.

    Not seeing it, I'm flying blind. But maybe you could neutralize the acetic acid with baking soda, rub the stock with 000 or 0000 steel wool to level the surface, and seal it with a polyurethane clear.

    I had a similar situation with my wood stocks in my basement. I ended up using white vinegar on a rag and wiped everything down. Seemed to work and haven't seen the white fuzz/film on them since, but I also have them all in a safe now with one of those water collector things I got at the dollar store.
