Re: Philadelphia's District Attorney race - Vega unseating Krasner
he let Krasner seem a bit paranoid with that... I kind of tuned it out as the pleas of a desperate man.. Vega looked pissed but held his composure, he called Krasner a liar by pointing to the stats and the mods seemed to back him up on that.. Krasner the worm, started to squirm....

Re: Philadelphia's District Attorney race - Vega unseating Krasner
Notice that NBC Philadelphia didn't publish this article until AFTER the May 3rd deadljne.
Thousands of registered Republican voters in Philadelphia have switched parties and become Democrats since the beginning of the year, and the city police union has been taking credit for the large migration.
The Fraternal Order of Police claims they have been pushing the party change to help get their candidate in the May 18 district attorney's primary elected. The union backs Carlos Vega, a former city prosecutor who is challenging incumbent District Attorney Larry Krasner. The exact number of Republicans who became Democrats since Jan. 1 is 6,252, according to the city commissioners' office. That's an increase of more than 200% compared to 2018 and 2020, combined, an election expert said.
An NBC10 analysis of where those voters live gives some credence to the union's claims that it has undertaken a "get out the party switch" effort. (For those still considering switching parties to vote in the primary, please note: you missed the boat. The deadline to do so was Monday, May 3.)

Re: Philadelphia's District Attorney race - Vega unseating Krasner
In past elections, they might have been the voices an incumbent district attorney enlisted to remind voters of the need to be tough on crime. But Larry Krasner*s victory four years ago upended traditional views of the prosecutor*s office and its mission. And as he seeks the Democratic nomination for a second term this month, it*s crime victims and their friends and family who have emerged as some of the most visible figures in the campaign against Krasner before the May 18 primary.
They are prominently featured in anti-Krasner TV ads funded by an outside group that is the biggest spender in the race, and in campaign mailers for Krasner*s opponent, Carlos Vega. They are campaigning for and with Vega, a former longtime assistant district attorney. They are saying Krasner and his office mistreat victims and their families in a zeal to reform the criminal justice system and end mass incarceration.
*He cares more about the criminals than he does the victims,* Shaki*ra Wilson-Burroughs, whose brother, Police Sgt. Robert Wilson III, was fatally shot in 2015, says in one anti-Krasner TV ad. She said in an interview that her family was *completely blindsided* by a plea deal that allowed the killers to avoid the possibility of the death penalty, which Krasner opposes.

If COVID caused the spike in urban homicides (which Krasner uses as his excuse for poor performance and incompetence), then why are homicides spiking as COVID becomes contained?
