One of the reasons we have so many laws (like so many far flung taxes) is so that the government can use these laws to coerce 'obedience' to other current demands... Like having a hundred Damocles swords hanging over your head, readily selectable by the next 'offended' official who you choose to challenge.

I can think of folks who would love to have a list of people guaranteed to be unarmed as they sleep in their beds.

Recent history has proven that the government (and large corporations) have no real interest in safeguarding our information, meaning that any list on a computer can be hacked and distributed to criminals, stalkers, Democrats, and other sociopaths. Heck, anti-gun journalists (which seems to be at least 95% of them) have previously obtained lists of gun owners and published them, for no legitimate purpose. If you have a lists of all people, and a list of either all gun owners or all non-gun owners, you can figure out the rest.

What should be scary to those Democrats, and others, is that if the list is really short for all non-gun owning people.

Not just published but in the case of the Journal News in Rockland County NY they put the information on an interactive Google map complete with "street views".
