Re: Doesn’t look like ammo prices will be going down anytime soon.
This feels like November 2008 thru March 2009, when you couldn't find a #10 shell holder in stock. Right now, reloading as a substitute for purchased ammo is not being supplied, or if it is the prices are such that long-range averaging will never amortize it. There has been a ratcheting of .22s. Bricks of 500 that were less than 10 bucks went permanently into the teens and this time will probably settle in the $20s. Volatile products become kicked to other holding companies if the stockholders say enough and the CFO agrees. Add Biden's plans for ammo, we may all be scrounging for flints and chicken manure-derived potassium nitrate or boiled urine.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

I drove to some shops today and got powder and a few hundred primers for only a few bucks more than Trump era prices.
Reloading is the way.
Not a good time to get into reloading though. Equipment and some components are in too short of supply to justify starting now, unless you REALLY want to.

Print print print the money.. 2 trillion here, some there, couple trillion for this, and then some for that. "Ammo is the new currency" was a great t shirt i saw at the leesport gun show years ago. Knowing vanguard, whats the out look? My investment in ammo is looking good, guns good, ect
Trucks Selling higher then they are/ were worth, House is sold in days and $20 grand or higher (bubble), everything is higher due to supply issue?
Strange days indeed.

Re: Doesn’t look like ammo prices will be going down anytime soon.
All this was pretty inevitable at some point after a few great years. Those that ignored those $6.19 boxes of 9mm, oh well. Metal prices were gonna go back up some day and they did. Also you could certainly expect there was going to be some crisis again as well or a political change.
I remember how sparse it was in 2013 so I decided to reload and it paid off. Bullets, powder and primers don't really go bad if you store them well. So next time prices are low, stock up and set yourself up. Then you don't have to worry about it anymore.
I think assuming nothing else happens at least one year to return to normal, maybe more like 2.

PCP guns or airsoft will keep you shooting and training for pennies. The cost to get into PCP and or airsoft isn't cheap, but the ammo sure is in today's climate. My daughter and I have been doing both and it's worked out for us. People also should have loaded up on factory ammo and reloading components, that takes away the sting of facing today's pricing reality.

Re: Doesn’t look like ammo prices will be going down anytime soon.
I just found a shop with fiocchi 9mm for $32.00 a box of 50. That is down from $40.00 a box. Ammo is also more plentiful online but still up there in price.

QE and stimulus = inflation. The dollar is worth less. Commodity prices are rising. Don*t be distracted by the show.
