    Default Teeny tiny flash holes

Friend gave me appx 800 357SIG mixed brass, about 90 of which is really nice nickeled Speer cases. The LEE decapping rod kept slipping up on them, the reason being the flash hole is really small. I wound up drilling them to a more normal diameter. Wondering why Speer is making them so small.

Field and Stream brass for 223 is the same way and off center. Just as a warning.

Enlarging flash holes is not something normally done. I have enlarged holes on brass I use for black powder rounds. But that's another reason I like to use nickeled cases for BP rounds. EZ id and clean-up.

Some brass makers are claiming that the shoulder on a 357 SIG is causing uncontrolled propellant burn resulting in blown cases. Their answer is the very small flash hole. That's pretty difficult (for me) to swallow, since other makers are producing brass with a normal diameter flash hole without bad result. I drilled them out with a drill size just under other makers working diameters.
