Default Was the tip good ?

So after work today. I took my truck for a drive. Not far. Just to Easton and back home to Allentown.
    Well that was the plan.

BUT in Easton the TPMS light came on.
The TPMS light doesn't come on unless a tire is noticeably low; like 50% low.
And the truck was handling fine.
However; I still parked the truck and looked at the tires. None looked low.
But I didn't have a gauge to check.

Since tires looked good and truck is a 2008.
I thought maybe the batteries in the sensors, in the tires had finally died.

So I decide to just finish the short drive back home.
And check more thoroughly at home.

    WELL
Half way home I learned there really was a tire going bad. Because the rear, driver side tire blew !

I pulled over, saw the blown tire and called AAA.
You basic call to AAA for towing. EXCEPT for their pushing covid requirements.
They said there is a good chance the tow driver may refuse to allow me to ride inside his truck's cab.

But fortunately that was not the case.
The driver had the same attitude as me towards covid.
And more importantly. He's a carrier too. Although not on the job. At least not visible carry.

When he first arrived. It was just business as usual.
We great each other, he asks for photo id, we put my truck on the tow truck's bed, and we both get in the cab of the tow truck.
Through out all this. Absolutely no reaction from him towards my open carrying handgun on right hip, two spare mags and large OC spray on left hip.

Once in the tow truck and start driving away. He says "What ya carrying ?"
    I reply "Your basic 9mm, S&W M&P 9 aka Glock clone."
    He says "Cool ! I have a Sig 229."

The whole 10 miles to my house. All we did was talk guns and ammo prices.

Once at my house and unloading my truck. I tipped him $20

I really like encountering fellow patriots in my neck of the woods !

How would you rate my tip; too large, too small, just right ?

Only the crappy donut. I prefer to be towed instead of using that thing.

    For 10 miles?

Some friends of mine did an experiment a few years back. Turns out temporary donuts are made from very "grippy" rubber, and provide traction not unlike autocross compound tires. They are good stuff. Don't be afraid of them, not for 10 miles.

20 bucks is fine. I tip the concrete drivers 20 every time they show up.
6 jobs a day and thats 120 cash plus your pay.

I would not feel inclined to tip a tow truck driver who is doing his job, which includes 24x7 on-call service. He is likely well paid.

Nevertheless, the $20 tip was a very kind and generous gesture on your part ett. I’m sure he appreciated it.

Well, if your tip fit, I guess it is the right size.

I hope you are able to "hook up" with him next time you need such services.

If they want more than they tip they have to beg.

I'm sorry what's this thread about?
