What my main question is tho, why all the sudden with Taurus coming up as a comparison to S&W? Has Taurus become respectable in the manufacturing process, or am I missing a joke? Haven't done much pistol shopping in a while, so this thread has me wondering. Next thing I know I'll be hearing y'all praising Hi Points...(Yeah, I looked at a few some years back. Seemed okay for the price, but the lack of capacity turned me off. Just wanted a cheap 9 for when I didn't want to take my good-uns out and about).

Sorry for the thread drift, but being in the market, you may have opened up avenues to persue besides S&W, Ruger and CZ...again, unless I missed the joke...that happens sometimes.
i feel confident from my own experiences with Taurus and the new CEO and state-side plant in Georgia that they have turned the corner. people bag on them and keltec but i believe (other than ruger) they are the only gun manuf actually listening to what people want... i have the 692, 617, 856 3", 856 UL CH, G2C (had mil pro g2) and all are excellent, esp considering price tag when i got them. i did have a 617 titanium that had cylinder erosion and the interaction w customer service was (and still is) alot to be desired... but they eventually replaced it with a brand new SST 617. that 617 really should be on more ppls radars - 7shot, more K framish 2" with fixed front blade/ gutter rear, nice small grip, perfect carry esp w. bobbed or chopped hammer spur.. and when i converted to 9mm, smith 986 moonclips worked perfectly as will 692 9mm moonclips (but i did it pre-692).

now if they made an Ultralite 617 with concealed hammer and fiber or replaceable front sight... that would be it for me.

Appreciate the info...Like I said, been out of the market for a while. Last time I was looking, Taurus and Hi-Point were pretty much scorned. Nice to hear that an American manufacturer has listened to it's customers.

BTW, the one I want to swap out is a Grendel P12 (before it became KelTeck)...i.e. about 1992 manufacture date, IIRC. Strictly a CC sidearm.

    Thank you.

I don't like the grip angle, I bet it feels like you're holding a 2x4.

I'm in multiple databases. But not that one.

Big difference between people knowing they're suppose to confiscate something and having a list of what they're looking for.

If you've ever purchased a handgun legally in the US, you're on a list. Anything else they find when they bash in your door at 2a is just gravy.

The point is it doesn't matter which database you're in. They already know you have guns.

I kept wanting to post this, but decided not to, but since you can't stop...

I fucking DESPISE this reply - and I see it ALL the time.

Yes, they know you own "A" gun. No fucking SHIT!
That's great - they know. It's also NOT THE POINT.

They don't know ALL the guns - they don't need to know all the guns.
I fail to understand why this is so difficult for some people to grasp.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
