Re: Why is every new pistol striker fired?
Some of the reasons why many are striker-fired today are the simpler and more compact design, also usually lighter in weight versus hammer fired. And likely cheaper to make. Lower weights in carry guns is a high selling point for manufacturers, and lower price goes without saying.
I like both overall designs, but can favor or rule-out specific models because of related attributes. Not really a fan of the partially cocked strikers like Glock or P99QA, but do like the nearly full cock of an XD. Don't like the crap-ass trigger of a Nagant revolver, but do like a S&W or Colt(or even Taurus) trigger stroke.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: Why is every new pistol striker fired?
I thought I was going to hang on to my HK DA/SA hammer guns until the day I die, they had the V1 light LEM triggers, so eliminating that super heavy first shot and super light second shot. Then I shot the P320 Xcompact, and converted. Consistency in trigger pull, and a great trigger, won me over.
Life has a melody. Not great, not terrible.

Re: Why is every new pistol striker fired?
As i said, to each their own. But it really just isn't that big of a deal. Like anything else, it comes down to practice.
Is it more popular because people like it more, or because that is all we are given so by default it sells more?
I think my point is, with the advancements in sticking like 18 rounds into these tiny pistols, why can't we have a decent da/sa?
Oh. And to the cz shadow 2 guys. Firstly, they are beautiful guns. But are they not just a cz75 at the core? Genuine question. That isn't rhetorical.
The Ruger 57...i forgot about that. But eh? At least it was actually new.

Re: Why is every new pistol striker fired?
Ya mean why is everything a re-shaped Glock?
Because people today are too fuckin' stupid to handle a 1911 safely!
Look on the bright side , the original prototype of what supposedly/eventually became the Hi-Power , JMB designed as striker-fired!I don't speak English , I talk American!
