Spare revolver parts?
I'm well aware that i have some issues with wanting to be able to service all of my own weapons (within reason).
Do any of you keep spare parts for revolvers? If so, what sort?
I was thinking maybe a hammer spring, rebound spring, screws, and various shims.
I'm not abusive with my revolver so i don't think I'll need much else.
I'm just looking to keep my old 686-3 running.

Wolff service-pak contains all the springs ya need. If yours has hammer mounted firing pin , ya might want to keep 1 or 2 on hand along with the rivet. Most S&W revolver parts will need fitting.

Also check gunbroker, there are several "GB"(gun buster) sellers that I have in my "Saved Searches". Last year I bought a parts kit for my Ruger sevice sixes that included nice wooden factory grips, cylinder with ejector rod and crane, barrel with front sight, rear sight, trigger assembly, hammer and all of the springs, screws, etc. for ~$125 shipped.

Re: Spare revolver parts?
I'm not afraid of some minor fitting. I have done some smaller fitting jobs on a s&w like the double action sear. But most of what i want to stock up on are non fitted parts.
Good idea. Not sure what the heck I'll need or find. But it doesn't hurt to look.

My 686 is a -3 also. It is so robust it is hard to imagine anything on that list going south.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

I keep spare revolver parts on hand in the form of a spare revolver, for those few of which I am especially fond.

Re: Spare revolver parts?
I only have one revolver (32 caliber), but I have extra parts for all my combat rifles and handguns.
I even have extra parts to repair aluminum mags, optics and special gunsmithing tools."One must be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves” ~ Machiavelli

Re: Spare revolver parts?
Not any known weak parts on K-L-N frames. I have broke , and saw many other broken hammer spurs on J-frames. Most spares are purchased to replace parts that were screwed up by some Bubba Gumsmith trying to do a trigger job. The case-hardening on the hammer & trigger isn't very deep and easy to break thru , making it wear rapidly and very dangerous.
