    Default Ruger PR 300wm alternative

I was looking into a long range precision rifle, specifically the Ruger Precision Rifle in 300wm. There's very low stock on these right now, the ones available are all over $2000.

Any alternative you can recommend that's around $1500, in the same style as the Ruger PR? I dont think I'll be using it for hunting, just target shooting.

Savage makes PRs that are 80-90% as good as Ruger. You may also want to look at alternate calibers (6.5cm, 308win, etc.) depending on how far you're planning on shooting. I've been looking for a 338lapua PR for over a year. I have several 6.5cm, 308, 300wm alternatives already, so I'll wait out the scamdemic supply curve and demand pricing for another year or more if I have to..

^ what he said. Dont have the RPR but do have their Long Range Target (laminate tactical looking stock in 'grippy' FDE), as well as as Savage 110 Precision. Both are nice. Dollar for dollar between those 2, I'd probably take the Ruger because I'm not a huge chassis style guy....if you want a chassis set up, not sure theres much difference between them in my mind (and that is the bulk of the cost difference between my two). The brake on the Savage does a nice job taking 338LM recoil though...well engineered.

Short answer, dont think you can go wrong with either.

On a "different options" note, may be worth looking at Bergara as well. Not sure if they have anything that fits the need, but I do here very good things about them. Also think Tikka launched a tactical looking type T3 a year or two ago.

I have a hunting X-Bolt in 300wm and it's a great gun. It's no long range precision rifle and I don't really see that much on the Ambush that makes
its claim to long-range precision either. I paid $600 for mine, so I'm less than excited about what it claims to offer for $2500+.. YMMV
