Philadelphia a potential ‘minefield of human feces’
A ringing endorsement for tourists to visit Philadelphia, now that everything is opening up again.
Note that the "human waste filling the streets around City Hall" does NOT refer to the Mayor or City Council, but actual poo.
The row of porta-potties installed in Center City during the pandemic is being scaled back and moved down the block. Advocates call the move “concerning” in light of what happened last summer, when they say human waste filled the streets around City Hall.
Philadelphia does not have public restrooms, which poses major challenges for people without permanent housing. It’s long been a problem in Philly, said Darlene DiDomineck, executive director of The Center Philadelphia, a homeless services hub at the Arch Street United Methodist Church. But over the past 12 months, things came to a point she’s never seen before.
“Honestly it was a minefield of human feces,” DiDomineck said of the streets around the church at the corner of Broad and Arch. “So having those porta-potties for at least all winter has been really critical.”

They should have bag dispensers like they have in the produce departments at the grocery stores and launch a 'pick up after yourself' campaign. Yeah, that'll fix it.
And for a real treat to the senses, tourists should take a walk through the concourse.Gender confusion is a mental illness

Years ago...at night the concourse looked like scene from Escape from New York....sounds as if it is working it's way back to that.

I would rather shit on the street than go into one of those Porta-potties. Who wants to sit down and get stuck by a needle under the seat? I guess they are good for peeing behind them though.

This is nothing new.
I worked right across from City Hall for four years 21+ years ago. Used to walk through City Hall every morning. I always found it fascinating.
The stone work on the building is phenominal! Carved columns. Wildlife scenes with groundhogs and thistles and other plants. The great compass rosette in the middle courtyard.
And ALL of it surrounded by the overwhelming smell of piss and shit in the dark alcoves (Is this how you say it...alcoves?).
I couldn't get outta that place fast enough.Sed ego sum homo indomitus
