Default NJ man attempted to shoot officer in Montgomery County, gun did not fire

WHITEMARSH TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A New Jersey man is facing charges after prosecutors say he pointed a stolen gun at a Montgomery County police officer's head and pulled the trigger three times but no bullets fired. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele on Thursday charged 20-year-old Reynaldo Figueroa-Ardon with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and related offenses.

Figueroa-Ardon allegedly pulled out a handgun when the officer grabbed his arm and pulled the trigger at least three times but no bullets were fired. The officer wrestled Figueroa-Ardon to the ground and placed him in custody with the help of responding officers. Police say the gun Figueroa-Ardon had was reported stolen from inside a parked vehicle in Worcester Township Tuesday night. While the gun did not fire, there were bullets in the magazine, according to police.

Reynaldo Figueroa-Ardon, 20, of Vineland, is accused of pulling a gun on a police officer who tried to stop him in the Lafayette Hill neighborhood Wednesday morning. The officer spotted Ardon on Mulberry Lane around 8 a.m. while responding to a call that a man was checking car door handles to see whether they were unlocked, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said. Ardon allegedly fit the description of the suspect, so the cop approached him and asked him to stop walking.

Not leaving the gun unsecured in your vehicle would be a good idea also.

That is true but I don't like leaving mine in the car at all and don't make a habit out of doing so.
