Default Illegal to change barrel lengths on a Heritage Rough Rider?

A question posed and Heritages' answer.

Can I change my Rough Rider barrel to a different size barrel?

No, because your Rough Rider was registered to you with a certain barrel length and serial number. BATF maintains this information and it cannot be altered. If a barrel length is changed, then a new serial number and new registration must follow. This is a lengthy and costly procedure. We do not sell Barrels and Frames to consumers or dealers.

There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Bullshit. With handguns you can change the barrel length from "just having enough to have recordable rifling" to infinity.

Only rifles and shotguns have a lower end limit of 16" and 18", respectively.

And only a handful of states have "registration", and of which the barrel length is only a contributing attribute. The serial number is the primary identification for those registries.

When I was younger I chopped a barrel down on a 10 pump bb gun rifle,
and sawed the stock off. Did I brake the law?

Did they forget there is NO LEGALLY EXISTING Federal firearms registry?

Of course that answer is completely wrong.
It seems in keeping with the quality of their firearms though.

I've had a few come through the shop here for transfers.
They're some of the cheapest, junky firearms I've seen lately.

They would excel with a 19/0 shark hook and chain- right over the phukin side.

    Was that rhetorical or tongue-in-cheek?

Because no, a BB gun isn't a firearm.
