Default Do you keep or toss your gun boxes

I have amassed a rather large collection of long gun boxes over the years. I was curious what most of you do with them. Obviously I keep and will continue to keep handgun boxes since they are smaller and easily stored but I’m starting to think about tossing many of the long gun ones.
I think the only reason I have kept them this long is because I found that my father had kept a couple of his and I guess I kept them after he passed because I couldn’t bring myself to throw something away that he had obviously kept.

Also what about optics boxes. Do you keep or toss them?
Thanks for your input and experiences.

Keep gun boxes. Never have the right size box if you ever need to ship a long gun

    Toss accessory boxes.

I used to get rid of them after a couple years. Bad on my part. If I could go back, I would*ve kept everyone.

If it was a factory box with images, or logos, or "something", it may be worth keeping as a collectible/increase the value if you should sell, but a basic cardboard box, I would pitch.

I have only purchased 3 rifles new, so it's never been an issue. And none of them had boxes worth keeping.

I keep almost all accessory boxes.
It's rare that I will sell a gun and need a box, but accessories come and go, and the boxes are small enough to stash.

Generally the original box will get ya a few more bucks if ya ever sell or trade it. But if ya look on Ebay or other auctions , gun boxes alone fetch some surprising prices.
