Back in the late 50's Montgomery Ward sold them for $39.95. Wish that I had bought all that they had.

I don't think the Johnson rifle was ever going to make it up against the M1 Garand, however the Johnson light machine gun derived from the rifle was better than the BAR and should have been more widely adopted.

As I recall from looking at one, the bolt looks very similar to an AR bolt.

The Marines were pretty happy with their Johnson rifles early in the war.

I remember them being fairly low priced in the 90’s and early 2000’s They never seemed to be very popular.

Yeah, me too. Only a few people had an interest in them.

The guys I help out at Morgantown/Oaks/Allentown have a Johnson rifle for sale. We joke that we charge customers $10 for making jokes and $5 for holding the rifle.

I always see the same one at every gun show. I feel like it should have an odometer on it.

I saw a Johnson rifle at a gun shop near Hattiesburg, MS back in 2006 for a great price but someone had tried to sporterize it and since I knew little regarding these rifles I had no idea what it would cost, if possible, to restore it to it's original configuration so I passed. When I was in my teens back in the 70's-80's I remember Woolworth's having loads of surplus rifles for less than 60 bucks but I thought they were just junk rifles so I didn't buy anything. If I knew then what I know now I would have bought every single one of them and been sitting on a nice retirement nest egg right now.
