He may have had a cane to help him get around but he handled all of them like he was in his 20s again. Good times.
I took my father out with my Garand he*s a big guy like me 6*4* 270 and he was surprised at the recoil and amazed that just about every GI handled the Garand like a champ.
He*s looking forward to shooting the Carbine , just need to find the time .

Congrats on finding the one you were looking for. The carbine is just a fun gun to shoot. I wish I had never sold my Inland Steel carbine.

I had mine out at the indoor range one day and there were a couple kids with their grandpa a few lanes over. He made an embracing remark about my carbine and I offered him a 15 round mag. He said "I haven't touched one of these since I was in korea" and proceeded to print a nice tight group at 25 yds with a big ol smile.

Something about the old service weapons just feels different in your hands. They have their own story, but a lot of people can share in it.

Years ago , a friend brought back a ton of '70s vintage USGI M1 carbine ammo from Camp Perry. He was selling it for $5 a box of 50! I filled 2 .50cal cans! He also had spam cans of clipped ammo in bandoleers. Shoulda grabbed a few of those.

Some day I'll find a Rock Ola. My two hobbies are firearms and vintage audio. A Rock Ola basically combines the two.

I have a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 Carbine to compliment my M1. I reload for both. I reduce the loads for the pistol to give everyone on the range a break. Otherwise, KA-POW!
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Next to the Garand this is turning out to be one of my favorites ...I can see why the GI’s loved it so much .
