    Default Question about Mossberg Maverick

Looking to possibly get a Maverick 88 Security/Field Combo

Trying to find out if the 28inch field barrel has chokes you can change out

This is the best description I can find and I THINK this means that you can but I'm not positive

    Does anyone know for sure?

The 28* vented barrel doesn*t come with extra chokes, but you can replace the one it comes with. My parents bought me that one like 10 years ago and that*s how it is set up. I*d call mossberg to confirm, but I am 99% positive you can replace the chokes on the 28* vented barrel. The 18.5* barrel isn*t set up to replace the chokes.

That is the way I read that link. I would go 500 before maverick because of parts availability.

See, I am confused. I read that link I posted as thinking you can change the chokes but that's the only think I can find that says that

From what I can tell the Maverick is largely compatible with 500 parts, except the trigger group

I did email Mossberg and ask. I'll let y'all know what I find out

Received the following reply from Mossberg

Good morning the 31014 Maverick 88 field security combo has the 28" vent rib barrel with modified accuchoke and yes it is interchangeable.

Not yet. I am on a list from several sites to Notify Me when they are in stock.

Nothing local yet either. Even checked Rural King and Dunhams in Butler

I am seeing lots of shotguns very similar to that, for around that price.

Personally, i really want to hold out of this as I love the 2 barrels for that price. Plus the Mossberg name
