The people of Philadelphia and every other American city are at fault for this. They elected people that will not enforce the law and actually protect the criminals rather than protect the people that pay their salaries. Stupid is as stupid does. In every major American city it's the same story, the people elect Mayors and DA's that rather protect criminals than the citizens. Fix it yourself and stop crying about crime because it must be what the people want since their elected officials perpetuate the crime on innocent citizens and keep getting reelected.

The criminals and their enablers are the ones who voted for them!

I remember one woman interviewed about repealing ''Stand Your Ground'' laws said she hopes so because her sons have been arrested for B&E/burglary 'a bunch of times' and she don't wants dem to get shot!

Just like the presidential election, not everyone voted for the Democratic candidate. Saying the people of Philadelphia is painting with a broad brush. Leave that to Deanimator.

    Fixed it.

Anyway, I'll do my best imitation of Philadelphia News media reporting.

As reported by Dan Koob, 33 year Marcel Jenkins was arrested and charged for numerous crimes in his car jacking of a food delivery man's car that lead the police through the streets of Philadelphia including the Police administration building parking lot.

To the long list of ways in which 2020 was a terrible year, we can add another: In U.S. cities, violent carjackings are up. Way up.

In Minneapolis, the Star-Tribune newspaper reports that carjackings were up 537% in November; there were 125 instances of the crime in October-November.

In Chicago, carjackings have more than doubled, a trend punctuated by the December death of retired Chicago fire Lt. Dwain Williams, shot by three armed carjackers after pulling his own handgun and engaging them in a shootout. Heading into the Thanksgiving weekend, Chicago police statistics showed there had been more than 1,150 carjackings to date in 2020, compared to 507 in all of 2019. Depending on how the final month adds up, the annual increase could be closer to triple.

New Orleans, Oakland, Milwaukee, Louisville, Nashville and Kansas City all report increases in carjackings, and a look back at the past 60 days of Associated Press coverage turns up cases in Philadelphia, St. Louis and even Wichita. In Wentzville, Mo., a motorist foiled a carjacking by pulling his own weapon.

All of this is accompanied by a rise in car thefts overall, and increased crime in general. The Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) reports, "Preliminary data from 223 police agencies across the United States reveal steep increases this year in homicides and aggravated assaults."

    But wait, there's more.

According to LVMPD's Summerlin Area Command Capt. Fred Haas, there have been 17 carjackings recently in the valley. Most of those carjackings have involved juveniles.

This part is NOT surprising, considering the recent Tide Pod Challenge. Maybe they should call this the JHP challenge?

Some of those thefts are motivated by a desire for social media fame, where videos of teens and young adults speeding in stolen cars while being pursued by police cruisers draw thousands of views, Illinois State Police Col. David Byrd said.

How so? Not saying the two are connected just lots of violent crimes involving vehicles in Philly.

And you also stated: Especially in Philly where vehicular homicide is one of the preferred methods of murder.

Vehicular homicide is no where near the preferred method of murder. We have been having an enormous uptick in fatal pedestrians struck by autos, but they were not intentional murders. And we have a lot of drive-by shootings from autos, but that is not vehicular homicide.

I question your use of *vehicular homicide* and also *the preferred method of murder*. That is not the case at all.
