Re: So Carjackings are a thing these days...
Put rainbow decals on the windows. Then talk and gesture opposite your gender. With a sharp lawyer and the right judge, you might be able to frame them with a hate crime.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Also from January 26th, via the PPD
Just a reminder that carjackings are still on the rise. Please refer to the below flyer for helpful tips on how not to be a victim of this crime.

The radio traffic for this was hilarious.
"Ah... he's on Market, headed East.... his window is down.
(Some supervisor) HIS WINDOW IS DOWN! LOOK OUT FOR A WEAPON!
"Ah... he's giving us the finger"

Re: So Carjackings are a thing these days...
A few thoughts:
Food delivery people are easy prey. They actually bring the cash and auto to the location of the robbers.
Carjackings started rising a few years ago with the ensuing use of intelligent ignitions. It is now harder to steal a parked car, so take one that is already running.
The recent rise in carjackings almost seems to be for sport. They not only take the car, but either shoot or give the people a beat down. I blame this on the current no repercussion atmosphere.

Re: So Carjackings are a thing these days...
I used to work in Old City Phila so I was often on the train platforms in/around Center City. I recall one day seeing an 'urban yute' strolling the platform with not just seriously sagging pants (belt not far above knees) but also a long (probably knee length, read on) puffy jacket with a hood. He was slight of build, about 15 years old. To keep his pants from falling down he had to hike up the hem of the coat enough to hold his belt, but the coat bunched up so much he could barely fit the bunch between his arms and body. The penguin walk he had going on was oh so cool, man...

Re: So Carjackings are a thing these days...
The FBI stressed that nationwide, other major cities are seeing the same problem. Yet in Chicago, youngsters * mostly 15- to 20-year-olds, but some as young as 12 * are holding the guns and stealing cars. *There aren*t people that are directing these young kids to do this. These are young kids who are have lost their way,* Lausch said, *and they are committing these crimes of opportunity for the thrill of it.*
*They do not fear getting caught, or if caught, they don*t fear the consequences of potentially getting caught,* Lausch said. If a teen is charged with a carjacking, they could stay in juvenile detention until their 21st birthday. Foxx has taken heat for being soft on juvenile offenders. But she said her office filed charges in 80 percent of juvenile cases * and stresses it is not about locking the kids up.
