    Default Friend request ?

So, after the last round of changes I see that if I click on a profile to view it there is a box that says "so-and-so has made zero friends. Would you like to send a friend request?" or somesuch.

    Whats up with that ?

vBulletin 3.7 (we were previously running 3.6) added a lot of features that make vBulletin more "social" like myspace, facebook, etc. One of them was a big revamp of profile pages and as you found, they added reciprocal friends.

Basically people can "friend" each other. Simple as that.

What does friend-ing each other accomplish? IOW is there any functionality associated with it? I can see it facilitating PM'ing someone because they're easy to find.

Anything else or is it more or less just a social "thingy"?

As far as I know it is simply a way for people to network and keep in touch.

Since Dan is the President shouldn't we all get him as our friend automatically?

Dan. do you have a picture of yourself standing in front of a chalkboard?

Seriously though, it's a nice touch. It makes it easy to PM the people you usually PM.

They're the people you turn to first for a place to stay when you get kicked out of the house for buying your wife a new bowling ball with your initials on it for her birthday.
