What is the difference? I've minimally used the other type that you crimp. These have petals. For long guns only? Won't clear the cylinder?

Opinions on traditions offerings? Lgs has a woodsman flintlock for 470ish. It has my attention, what other necessities would I need right off?

Just read that Dixon's has decided to permanently cancel their Annual Gunmakers' Fair. That's a shame. The shop's still open, though. Need to make a trip up there soon. I think it's time to get the Mrs into BP. And I want a Brown Bess.

Seems kinda pricey for a traditions to be honest, but I don't know for sure what they go for today. They were kinda a budget offering. As far as function, I hunt with a traditions hawkens rifle and it works just fine.

Necessities would be powder (for gun and pan depending on caliber 2f or 3f for gun and 4f for pan), extra flints, powder measure, balls or sabots depending on what you want.

470 seemed decent, on the traditions site msrp is listed around 580.

Any reason I shouldn't use the powder I took after my pap passed? Its goex brand and I have no idea how old it is. I assume it'd be fine, don't think black powder degrades but I'm far from an expert.

I have been reading up on powders . Black powder lasts forever, even works after it got wet and dried out again. So you will be good !!
