Taurus TX22 Competition
Taurus has introduced the new Competition version of the TX22. Looks pretty cool. I may pick one up or buy the conversion kit they also plan to offer.

Re: Taurus TX22 Competition
I like my original tx22, the thinness of the slide under the chamber on the new one makes me worry about the slide breaking / being fragile

Looks cool but like my standard one also. Great plinker reliable so far. Did put the steel recoil spring assy in as the stock plastic one looked suspect. Also can be dry fired which is rare for a rimfire gun.

Re: Taurus TX22 Competition
I don't think that area is of concern. I'd be more worried about the slide cracking around the guide rod area. From the pics on Taurus's site, it looks like the guide rod is shiny, so maybe they are using a metal one. Either way, if I got one, I'd get the Lakeline guide rod assembly for peace of mind.

Re: Taurus TX22 Competition
Keep an eye on the rear sight. It likes to come loose. Also, I highly recommend replacing the plastic guide rod with a stainless steel one. That is a known weak spot on the TX22. The plastic guide rod flexes in such a way that the sharp edge of the spring rubs against the slide, which can cause it to crack over time. Lakeline makes a replacement that resolves the issue. In fact, Taurus is now selling Lakeline's recoil assembly on their own site.
