Under-the-bed Safe
Considering getting a safe that's specifically designed to go under my bed. There are a ton of options out there with varying reviews. Curious if anyone here has one and what their experience / opinion is on it? Any specific recommendations?

Get home security.
Your entire home becomes a safe. The USA is now a banana republic. Only without the bananas....or the Republic.

Re: Under-the-bed Safe
I have young kids in the house, thus the need for individual safes.

Re: Under-the-bed Safe
Not a lot of info in your OP. How many guns? Are you interested in really securing them or just keeping the kids safe?
Monster Vault under bed safe is relatively serious (11-gauge walls, like the side walls in something like a Liberty safe). Seriously heavy. Not cheap, but good.

A little cheaper and half the weight, roughly, this Amsec doesn't suck.

If you're not dead set on under-the-bed, maybe a V-Line locker mounted in your bedroom closet?

Re: Under-the-bed Safe
I guess I kept it vague just to see the wide variety of responses I could get. Goal is to keep my new semi-auto 12ga along with several mags under the bed, as an additional "bedside" gun. The goal is to keep them out of the kids hands more so than from being broken into by a burglar.

Re: Under-the-bed Safe
I have the Hornady Rapid Safe AR, not the XL. I have no complaints at all about it. It will fit an 18" or 20" shotgun. You don't have to use the foam blocks, and I don't. It can go under the bed or standing up in a closet. Has holes for mounting to a stud upright or subfloor under a bed.
The door opening is loud but that's not a concern for me (you'll see that complaint on reviews). AC power, battery backup. A pistol on your person and a long gun in there and you're plenty prepared for quick response with your kids being safe. Of course the best safety for kids is education.

Re: Under-the-bed Safe
Home security has its benefits if you're not home, then at least *someone* knows that someone broke into your house. Otherwise, fuck paying a company to send the cops to my house 20-30 minutes after I actually needed them.
I need a good safe primarily to keep them out of my kids hands. Yes, I've already started training my 6 year old so he knows the ins and outs. My 3 year old is a different story, and at some point, they'll both start having friends over. It's completely irresponsible to have something accessible with that in mind. Good safes also help deter someone that breaks in, so that's also key. Not that we're not home ever at this point...so if someone does break in, well, best of luck ;-)-Brandon
