For $18 and in stock, as often as they*d get used it may be worth trying...rather get 5rd pmags but they seem to be nonexistent for the AR platform
There will be many arguments about which USGI brand is the best, but in 5.56 terms, OKay/Surefeed is usually at the top and ASC is lower down if not outright despised - BUT a lot of that has to do with business practices. There are surely worse mags than ASC.
I would consider C-Products/Duramag before ASC, but that's just me. (ASC and C-Products have a twisted/blended relationship which I can never remember the details, and seem to have changed in construction at various times.
I have some ASC that I don't feel are as good of quality as they should be - BUT I can't recall at what "phase" they were purchased.
All that said - 308 mags may not behave the same as 5.56 mags and it's hard to find good info on 308 mags.

Here are a few in stock 5 rd 308 mags

    C Products $17
    https://www.ammunitiondepot.com/3391...-mag-5-rd.html

    Magpul $20.61 (not sure if correct model - I don't know 308) OOPS! That's 10 rd

    Magpul $33.25

    ASC $17.98
    https://kmtactical.net/product/asc-3...azine-5-round/

    Magpul $35

AR-Stoner $20 (Listed as "AR-SToner (Midway house brand) but the follower clearly shows ASC)

    C=Products Defense/Duramag $20

A 5rd mag built to minimum length would not extend very far beyond the mag well. I had some Colt 5rd 5.56 mags , but they used a plastic extension to make them almost as long as a 20.

I have a few 10rd P-mags for my LR-308. Much better prone or from the bench.

To make yinz feel better about mag prices, I just found a deal on surplus 5.56 HK93 40 round magazines, only $60 a piece shipped! Normal price is $80 a piece + shipping.

About the only info I can find thru the inter webs is that ASC used to be C products and the quality apparently got better once it was ASC producing the mags.

I’ll probably give it a go. Would have been better if I could have bought the full Magpul kryptek build kit that came with a 5rd mag but CDNN was out of stock. The only thing left was the lower build kit.

I put my wife on my account over the summer and I was wondering if she saw my purchases. Well I now know that the answer is yes.
