Brownell’s Oxpho-Blue - Can I Has Some?
Anyone have any Brownell’s Oxpho-Blue and lives in the Harrisburg, Chambersburg, York or Lancaster areas? If so, would you be open to letting me use some?
I de-dimpled a friends Model 870 magazine tube, and would like to use the Oxpho-Blue to finish the project up for him.
I won’t need much. They’re like $20 a bottle and I rarely need firearm bluing so it’s a complete waste to buy a whole thing of it. If you’re able to lend a hand, please let me know. Thank you!

If you use cotton swabs to apply , use the sterile medical or electronics type.
Do not use Q-tips or any other baby or cosmetic swabs. They are treated with lanolin and will contaminate the bluing solution , making it less effective.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: Brownell’s Oxpho-Blue - Can I Has Some?
I believe Q-Tips contain lanolin is a myth. The company describes the product as pure. There is no mention of lanolin or any chemical in its data sheet. I have pressed one heavily to a mirror and there is not a hint of any trace of anything deposited on the glass. I use Q-Tips for cold blue touch-up routinely, including Oxpro-Blue.
The company makes a special Q-Tip treated with an anti-bacterial. It's possible someone tried to use one of those and found it interfered with the application.
Searches bring up partial sentences mentioning lanolin, but when the information is read completely, it turns out to be something applied with the Q-Tip.Last edited by Bang; January 30th, 2021 at 01:59 PM.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
