Default Guns bought, never fired, and then sold

I cannot be alone in having been guilty of this more times than i would like to admit.

Some guns that come to mind:
Remington 870 - bought brand new. Realized how much i hate standing in the sun (to shoot clays), and sold it. It was a monster with some sporting barrel. Sold it to a member on here.

Ruger sr9 - I wanted to like it. Played with it a bunch. Dry fired it a bunch. Bought magazines and a holster. Sold it on here and bought a Beretta 92a1. Zero regrets.

Romanian sks - cleaned all of the cosmoline out of this thing. Meticulously cleaned it. Bought some ammo. Sold it. I actually kind of regret this one. Only kind of.

There have definitely been others. But mostly no regrets.

Never sold one before trying it, but have sold some that were low mileage. Either didnt like the feel, changed up calibers, wanted to free up cash for something else right after I bought it, etc. Having one around completely un-used just seems...wrong.

I've honestly never understood this. I always assumed when I saw ads for guns in classifieds that say "never fired" were a lie or really meant only taken to the range once or twice. I know every time I get a new gun I cannot wait to get it to the range.

Theres only 1 gun in my collection that I've never fired, a type99 7.7jap. And that's because Maynard took it apart probably 40yrs ago to refinish the stock and never put it back together. I dont sell much but I cant think of any that were never fired.

    This.

I don’t think I’ve ever sold a firearm that I haven’t fired. I’ve always bought used because there’s better deals to be had, but the few that I did purchase new were Low round count for sure (mainly sold because I wasn’t happy with feel, recoil, weight, traded up, or just needed the $ more than the gun)

As I get older though I find that I want to keep everything I buy, and tend to buy for specific roles to fill. If I sell these days it’s to upgrade or consolidate to specific calibers

Friend bought an Armalite AR-10, had it scoped, never fired it. I bought it and put it in the safe. On the fence , as to what to do with it. Local FFL says he*s got customers wanting it...$$$...decisions, decisions.

I can see people finding a great deal on a type of gun and buying a couple of them then shooting one while the others sit in the safe.

I have two guns that have never been fired. They are duplicates where I had a gun I really liked and I bought a backup at a great price in case something happens to the original. I fire the originals frequently but the backups have never been used.

Yes, I have purchased some guns over the years as spares and later sold them off unfired. Just did that earlier this year, bought a Shadow Systems MR920 Combat with the optic cut, after a month or so I decided that I really wasn't ready to make the switch to the red dot system at this time, so I sold the gun off unfired.
Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.
