Video catches flames and ejections paths of a 10/22
Take it to 50 seconds, slow the play to .75, and watch the flames. Note the wildly random paths of the ejected brass. Might be a clue to why these actions occasionally stovepipe. I'm surprised by this from a custom build.

It's a blowback 22. More common than you think.

Shows the variation of the ammo more than anything. The guns spring rate is not changing, but the ammo "power" varies significantly shot to shot as illustrated by the random ejection pattern.
