With 4 DUI's , he should never even be allowed to look at a firearm!

I knew a guy that had 6. He originally had 11 but got the 5 thrown out.

He's wise to try to figure things out rather than doing a "test run", but if an attorney finds info that isn't positive, the next step needs to be getting advice on how to legally dispose of what he has ASAP, before he has a much bigger legal problem to deal with.
This was what I was thinking too, but I'm no lawyer.

The "Can't buy any new ones" sounds like legal advice from a cop - who works part time at a gun shop.

The medical pot card is apparently the status where you can own guns and not be able to buy new ones. I've asked this question numerous times. If you have a pot card can the police pull you over strictly on that basis? Can they search your car and if they find guns confiscate them if you have a pot card? Can they come to your house and raid your house and confiscate your firearms if you have a pot card?

The matter of DUI is as SigforLife says. It depends on the statutes that were in effect at the time of your arrest and you should see a lawyer before attempting to buy a firearm from an FFL and you have to fill out legal paperwork.
