    Smile Reloading 45 ACP

Could use some help. Got rid of my Dillon 650 5 years ago. So now I'm using a
Lee single stage. Win brass, CCI primers, Extreme 230 grain RN. So this is the
first time I bought Unique powder. Anyone out there had success with the
Unique powder with the parameters I mention above. I called Alliant/Unique
and since they don't have data on using Unique with the Extreme bullets they
wouldn't give me the amount of Unique to use with the bullets. Any of you
    have any input?
Nope you can't find it on the charts for a 45 ACP using these bullets.
Not smart but I'm figuring an OAL of 1.25 / 1.26, and 4.7/5.0 grains of Unique.
    thanks in advance!

Alliant has load data online. https://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...35&bulletid=65

The TMJ should match close to the plated Xtreme 230gr RN

I usually just pick a similar bullet and begin with the starting load and max oal that will fit the mag and reliably feed.

Then I decide how brave I feel and work up to the flash, boom, velocity level I want.

There are few sure things in reloading.

    Is is LRN or FMJ?

5.8 grains for LRN or 6.5 gr for FMJ at COAL 1.26 should be safe and close to original spec for a 5" government model.

We're still shooting a lot of my late uncle's 45 reloads from11-4-1981. His notes say Unique, 6.6, 230gr. fmj RN Hornady bullets. A 1lb can was 7.95

I've used Unique for 9mm and 45 ACP for nearly 50 years. My loads for 45 are 6.2 gr for 230 gr jacketed, and 5.6 gr for 230 gr lead, plated lead, or coated.

I adjust the seating die using a USGI 230 gr Ball round as a "reference standard." Never a problem with OAL that way.

Last time I loaded Unique in 45 ACP, I think my load was around 6.0g and that was FMJ bullets.
