    Default 7.62x54 identification

7B6DD651-14BA-4233-9CF8-2382C4CA048C.jpgCan anyone identify the country of origin of this tin of 7.62x54. Markings are pretty worn out.8884AF29-89EF-4664-ABD4-F2114DFB7FB3.jpg

Bulgarian? Looks Cyrillic, but I don't think there was a lot of pre-1970s spam can import from Russia. Link below has a picture of Bulgarian 50s era spam can.

I could not find anything over there that would positively identify the ammo. What*s left of the markings are just not that good. There is one other mark a *00* up in the corner of can.

Only other way would be to open it up and see the head stamp on the ammo itself.

I figured as much. The only other advise I can give you is to sign up on Gunboards and post this up in the myosin Naha the or collectors ammo sections. They have more C&R and combloc collectors over there then here and you may get lucky. I would also put the best picture up of the whole spam can.

My guess is it's going to be Hungarian of some type. They were "square" tins instead of the "rectangular" ones from Russia, Romanian, Polish, Albania.

It*s a rectangular tin like your typical green Russian. Corners are squared and don*t have the curve.

Looks like Chezh silver tip to me, if it is then it is good stuff.

I will see what I can find about Czech markings. Plenty of info out there on head stamps but not can markings.
