The puller in a die has to grip the bullet. That will leave a mark.
    The impact puller doesn't.

Pad inside the bottom of the puller with a foam earplug and the bullet won't be deformed by the impact as it comes outta the case.
When swinging the impact puller, apply it to a hardwood anvil for longest life of the tool. I broke 2 of them until I figured that out. I use an 18" chunk of 4x4 i cut from an old pallet and bang it on the end grain.
Snap it down with wrist action. Don't take a full arm swing.

Stuck bullets can be loosened by gently bopping the point of the bullet to break the case grip. Use a SOFT FACED HAMMER.

Good advice. Seems we took some of the same reloading classes, aka experience.
I like what Twain said about experience being a great teacher, but the test comes first and the lesson later.
Have been using an inertia puller for awhile.
Have also broken one over the years. Like most things happens when you really want to use it, on a Saturday night holiday weekend where replacement will be a few days away.
Anyway came across a few hundred reloaded .44's, mostly cast but some jacketed.
Tore them down cause they weren't my loads and the cast was undersized for my use.
    Will recast them.
Did get the RCBS puller and it was slick. Very little marring on the jacketed and most of the hard cast pulled clean. Didn't seem like much of a crimp on these for a .44.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

I also got the RCBS puller a while back, mostly to pull some .223 rounds with partial roll crimps that I almost broke the basement floor trying to bang out. It's so neato that I ended up getting collets for pistol rounds that I reload. No more banging for me.

I had to get the RCBS puller to dismember some .338s that I screwed up. Got the puller and the collet at Oaks for good price. I beat the crap out of that hammer and it just wouldn't do it.
