    Cool beans.
My chrono stopped working as I started a ladder for the Tikka.
Happened twice. Magneetospeed chrono on order yesterday.

    I didn't even shoot the 7mm ladders.
    3400 is smoking.
Chrono started working again when I started using the Savage which is now my backup. I tried different jump but most accurate was near book OAL.
I'll need to get this knee looked at when I get back from Sedona.
Doc said he can scope the soft tissue he believes is my problem.
I'll look at powder options for the 7mm.
RL23 is tough and waiting for Grafs to get some in.

I have a half pound of RL25 and H1000 so might try those.

No plans for West this year
    Good luck out there.

Was your load from a modern reloading manual?

The 7mm mag was gelded 20-30 years ago when someone made a number of rifles with short necks. Because the old reloads would give extremely high pressure in these rifles the reloading manuals drastically dropped the max load to where in modern reloading manuals the 7mm barely beats a 30-06.

You need a chrony and carefully work up a load to get even close to a 7mm mag's full potential. I have a load that is 8 grains! over the max shown in some newer books. But before anyone calls me reckless this was the standard charge in the older books and the velocity is what it is supposed to be. I am sure some of the modern loads are close to the real max and you never know how short the throat is in your rifle so be very careful and do some research before you attempt to go higher. But if you are using a slow powder, you have room in the case, and your velocity is 200 fps lower than what it is supposed to be you can probably work up a higher than the max charge.

I believe QBC and I are working the same bullet or similar bullets.
The Hammer Hunter 131gr. And 140 Nosler BTs.
I've seen max loads with my choice of powder ( Rl23) getting 3400 plus with 70 grains.

I only have enough 23 for about 30 to 35 more charges but will ladder them after my new chrono gers here.
140 noslers can get up but not quite there with I 4350.

I use Speer, Sierra, nosler , one caliber, one book, and Alliant load data to find a comfortable start charge. I also just got precision mic for my .300 win mags and will get one forv7mm to set the shoulder back a bit on fire formed cases.

Keeps me out of the bars.

Using Nosler load data for 140 grain bullets. The Hammers have less baring surface than regular bollits. I ran the 6.5 124 grain hammers to 2900 fps out of a 22 inch browning hells canyon speed with 44 grains of Reloder 16. Ran the 152 grain hammers to 2996 fps with cfe223 out of my Tikka t3 308 winchester. The Winchester loads were on the hot side and I*m going to run them at 2900 fps at 49.2 grains of the cfe223.

I loaded 3 different. 44 mag loads for the new Henry.

I changed the bushnell scope for a Leupold and loaded 15 each of the following.

    15 using I4227, 15 using H110 and 15 using W296.

The 110 and 296 use magnum primers and the 4227 just large pistol.

All with IMI 240 gr jacketed soft points.

I had a lot of velocity fluctuation with my old reloads. I probly just used my powder thrower.
These, I was more careful and consistent.

I'll run them next week and chrono the speeds.

This Henry is cool to shoot.
The maximum point blank range using an 8 inch target is 174 yards using .175 ballistic coefficient, a velocity of 1750 fps an an 8 inch deer sized vital target.

I figured it for a 150 yard gun.

    Hope it groups well.
