Default SKS 12 gauge AK style shotgun

My LGS has one for $460 and was wondering if this is a good deal. Some say its as good as a Saiga 12 just Chinese made, some say its unreliable. Anyone have experience with this AK shotgun?

If it's an SDS Imports, that makes it a Lynx-12. Upside is you can share most parts with a Saiga-12. Downside is you can run into some of the same problems.
There is probably some "break in" from the underside of the bolt carrier striking the hammer face. Mine ( Lynx-12) didn't have that issue but I've seen others that have. Also I have the gas ports in the barrel lined up pretty well,so it runs reliably. Bulk pack Winchester birdshot is universally a crap shoot. If you look at the bulges between the hull around the wad you'll see why there is issues feeding. Stick with Federal if you have to go with bulk pack ammo and keep it over 7/8 of an ounce of shot.

Mine is the "traditional" charging system on the right, not the left handed one pictured above.

Yes, all the Saiga and clones have smoothbore. The only "rifling" was in an extended external choke. They are pretty rare to find.
