I suspect PSP was monitoring social media for sometime along with other major city police forces. Not only monitoring but joining in as an undercover.

How well did they monitor and prepare for the BLM and ANTIFA protests?

The hypocrisy makes me want to vomit.

But those were only peaceful protests, just looking to spark some social change.

saw this posted by the PG...

An anti-disinformation group has identified Pittsburgh among the U.S. cities targeted with threatened unrest leading up to President-elect Joe Biden*s inauguration Jan. 20, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

An online post about a purported event in Pittsburgh included images showing ammunition stockpiles, according to an Alethea Group report cited by the newspaper. Alethea identifies and evaluates disinformation and misinformation, the company says on its website.

In a statement Saturday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety said it was *aware of social-media rumors and media reports of possible actions and/or protests in the city* before the inauguration.

*As is always the case, Public Safety is preparing with our law-enforcement partners at the local, state and federal levels for any and all events in the city,* Wendell Hissrich, the director of public safety, said in the statement. *While we cannot discuss specific preparations, I have personally been in regular contact with law enforcement in order to continuously monitor the situation and prepare. We will ensure public safety.*

If Pittsburgh officials discover that any city employees joined in the insurrection Wednesday on Capitol Hill, the department added, *appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.*

Department officials did not elaborate Saturday beyond the statement.

*The FBI is aware of the report and working closely with our state, local and federal law enforcement partners with maintaining public safety by focusing our efforts on identifying, investigating and disrupting individuals who are inciting violence and engaging in criminal activity,* the FBI*s Pittsburgh office said in a separate statement.

Allegheny County police Superintendent Coleman McDonough shared similar remarks: *We are monitoring the situation and communicating with our local, state and federal partners. We cannot discuss any specific preparations, of course.*

The analysis by Alethea explored far-right conversation online and found *abundant evidence of threatening plans on a range of platforms large and small,* the Post reported. The company*s report lists events said to be planned in various locations for Jan. 17, Jan. 19 and Jan. 20, when Mr. Biden is scheduled to be sworn in on Capitol Hill, according to the Post story.

In addition to Pittsburgh, named locations include the U.S. Capitol and National Mall in Washington, the Utah Capitol in Salt Lake City and places in Columbus, Ohio, the newspaper reported. Some stated plans include localized events in all 50 states, it said.

Alethea did not immediately respond to an inquiry Saturday from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
