    Oops. My bad.

What kind of dies are you using ?
Are they full length sizing dies or shoulder bump dies ?

This can happen if you turn a bump die in too far.

As far as too much lube, lube dents are usually in just one part of the neck. to be sure make sure the vent hole is clear. should be a small hole in the side of the die to relieve pressure and lube.

.243 to .308 to .243?? That brass has been overworked. The photo proves it. I wouldn't shoot it.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

yeah, I'm thinking the same thing at this point. I just got a bag of alleged once fired 243 brass today in the mail from gaybroker. Before I mess with these other cases I have anymore I'll just keep using them for 308. going from 243 to 308 and back to 243 without annealing probably isn't doing the brass any good.

I've been perusing this forum for the past 5 years since I moved back to PA. I've been a member of numerous gun forums for the past 16 years, hell I even ran my own joke of a forum for awhile due to disagreements in board politics for quite awhile. While I did sign up here to use the classified sections, I also felt the need to communicate with others in the state due to the current state of politics.

After a VERY quick look at the 308 vs 243 case dimensions it looks like the 243 is longer to the base of the neck. That would explain the doughnut. My guess is it just needs fireforming with any moderate load but do some searches on a reloading forum first. I am sure this is well known.

I doubt you will lose many cases necking 308 down but you might have to anneal the cases and check the neck thickness.

I agree with Bang. I don't know if it is "Overworked", but I have formed a lot of cases to other cases and usually end up fireforming when I go through a radical neck/shoulder change. A die can only do so much.
