Do the wheelchairs have wheelie bars on them?

Yes, many do, especially motorized carts because the motors in them exhibit high amounts of torque and they can do a wheelie in many cases.

Anecdote: I was at my friend's place many years ago in his custom built wheelchair accessible house. Meaning, he has ramps instead of stairs that go between the four levels of his house. Long ramps with a small less sloped landing halfway between. I was following him up from 3 to 2 when suddenly we heard two loud cracks, and his chair stopped moving and started grinding really bad because he was still on the power. He let go of the power and just that quick almost started to roll backwards. I grabbed the chair and started to push the 800lbs up the remaining part of the ramp, about 25'. Took everything that I had, but I got him to the top. He couldn't believe it, and was grateful that I was there otherwise he would have rolled backwards down the ramp into a concrete wall with just a layer of wallboard over it.

Turns out both cams that connect the motors to the drives sheared off at the same time. No warning, nothing, just crack. I stayed with him until his wife got home and we were able to get him in his backup chair.

Something like that should make evening news. That's a serious fault. Frightening. That manufacturer needs 15 minutes of defame.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

It was wear, the chair was several years old at that point. Those power chairs have lots of things that break on them. Frames commonly break, foot rests snap off. The money they cost, they should be better built, but they're not.

Back in the late 80’s/early 90’s, a friend of mine was shot by a guy in a wheelchair. The guy was arrested. I dont recall the outcome.

    Under state law, it is.

Meaning you’d better have a LTCF if you’re traveling around your house in your vehicle.

They should have to be titled and licensed with some agency, just like ATV's.
