H&K USP compact - extended mag release?

I picked up a USP compact last year - which I really like. The only issue I have with it is the mag release. I was thinking of switching to the extended release and wanted to see if anyone here has experience with it. I read a few posts where some said that it caused accidental mag drops, and wanted to see if anyone here had that issue.

The extended release is the HK45C magazine release. Don't overpay by buying it from HKParts. I have it on all of my USP Compacts.

No issues with accidental dropping of magazines. There is an issue with using it in the full size 9mm/.40 cal guns. The full size 9/.40 use polymer magazines. The original magazine release was polymer, the HK45C release is metal. Using the metal release on polymer mags would wear out the magazine's interface to the catch over time, causing issues. That's why I've avoided putting it on my USP Tactical or USP Expert.

Thanks for the response. The only place I have found it was HKParts. I thought it was a bit pricey at $20 plus shipping. I will look elsewhere. I really wish I could print it with my 3D printer...

You can also try to call HK's customer service line to order it. Just go by the PN (234270). They're usually the cheapest place to buy parts.

I have it on my 45c, P2000 and P2000SK. Makes a world of difference!

You weren*t kidding! I bought it from Midwest, paid for shipping, and was still $6 less than HKParts charges for the part alone!

I just received the extended mag release and installed it. It was a quick install and it makes a huge difference! I would highly recommend it if you are considering the change.
