I have a few British-style lanyard loops w/round ring that I would like to install on certain revolvers , but they have the ser.no. on the bottom of the butt.

Always wondered why the S&W and Colt military revolvers had an oval loop?
    I don't speak English , I talk American!

Used to use a lanyard on my 1911A1 when on night patrols during FTXs. Dropping your pistol and having to look for it in the dark is embarrassing.

I currently have a lanyard rig I made to fit on my J frame S&W 327. I fits in the groove, and around the pin, at the butt of the revolver. I use it when I'm kayaking. Lanyard around my neck; revolver secured in a well buttoned shirt pocket.
Well concealed and looks just like a piece of survival gear in your pocket.

I carry my boat knife in my pants pocket on a lanyard with a mini carabiner on each end for quick access as well. Mrs. SG has her's on a lanyard attached to her PFD.

Any loose equipment in my boat cockpit is also paracorded in place.
I try to keep that to a minimum though.
