    Shouldn't be a problem.
Is the chamber and barrel chrome lined in your AR10?

I have used steel cased ammo in just about every firearm and caliber I own which includes 308 in an M1A and 30.06 out of a 1903A4.

Barrels are cheap. Shoot whatever ammo you can afford.

Why? Are steel cased ammo bad for chrome lined barrels?

The real issue with steel cased ammo isn’t the mild soft steel the cases are made out of. It’s more the bi metal bullet jacket most use which over time and many many rounds can wear a barrel faster then standard jacket ammunition. As long as your not doing mag dump after mag dump and getting that barrel ridiculously hot most casual shooters will never have an issue.

So how often do you think, should a chrome barrel that shoots 300 rounds a month of steel case, be changed?

p.s. Wolf counts as steel case, correct?

Yup wolf that's not wolf gold is bi-metal bullet, steel case ammo.

Barrel life is caliber dependent, but 308 isn't a particularly fast wearing round. I'd say 10-15,000 rounds. Keep in mind how much money that represents ($10k+)... And a good barrel is coming in at $400 tops. Not a concern.

Agreed especially out of a quality made barrel even if it’s melonited vs chrome lined.

IMO the steel case argument is a lot more theatrical than practical in the current day. I get the concerns and recognize that issues were present years ago, but have used various calibers in steel case over the years with literally zero issues. Yes it tends to be lower quality, typically a hair slower, less accurate, dirty, etc. but the savings is there and the average shooter just doesn't shoot enough to wear a gun out with it...and even if you do, swapping an AR barrel is pretty easy. If you're shooting at pie plates at 50 or 100 yards, go for it. Clean your gun a little more often and you'll be fine.

Before the Military Arms Channel became sponsored by Federal outside of accuracy tests 95% of the ammo Tim fired in his gun videos was steel cased. A few years back I was reading an article written by one of the winners of that History show channel Top Shot. He stated that unless it was some super oddball caliber the majority of the ammo they used was steel cased.

It’s more commonly used then most people think and it destroying your gun is just another regurgitated gun world myth based on ignorance that goes back to everything commie sucks.
