    Default Better weapons

So I had this thought in my mind for a while. The 2nd doesnt limit our freedoms to owning just guns.

In a scenario where new weapons are introduced to society that do a better job at protecting yourself and your family, would you care or not care about guns anymore? Would you want to have guns or not?
When I mean new weapons, I mean weapons that are just as deadly as guns, faster, lighter, cheaper, can bring down more bad guys, etc.

The deeper question probably is, if you have guns because you want to have guns or are you ok with posessing an equal alternative weapon that is just as deadly.

As far as I am concerned, I would have no problem switching over to having other weapons, completely, as long as they do the same job of a gun.

    What are your thoughts?

I will buy a phaser when they come out......sounds like the perfect home defense weapon. No need for ear protection and after you blast an intruder there is nothing to clean up so you could just go back to bed. You wouldn't even have to report anything to the police.

The Nine Inch Nail gun always sounded like fun, Flak Cannon was one of my favorites.

I'll take the M56 Smart Gun from the movie Aliens. Like Vasquez, I'll probably need an exosuit to operate it effectively, but I'll deal with it.

The sentry guns from the extended version were pretty cool too.
