Default ATF Withdrawals Notice and Request for Comment!

"Upon further consultation with the Department of Justice and the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, ATF is withdrawing, pending further Department of Justice review, the notice and request for comments entitled “Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with ‘Stabilizing Braces’,” that was published on December 18, 2020. 85 FR 82516. As explained in the notice, the proposed guidance was not a regulation. The notice informed and invited comment from the industry and public on a proposed guidance prior to issuing a final guidance document.

The withdrawal of the guidance does not change any law, regulation, or other legally binding requirement"

Not to be thick headed, but they are withdrawing the notice... As in they are no longer pursuing pistol braces as an nfa item or?

I hate that i have to ask. But they make everything else unnecessarily complicated, so why would this be any different?

And yes, even if they are withdrawing... I'm sure it is just regrouping.

I guess they realized this proposed law was totally arbitrary and would cause 100 lawsuits. And everyone who already has a pistol or even a bare receiver would just need to buy the cheapest brace on the market and they could get a free SBR.

The battle may be won, but the war is definitely not over.

Well, to everyone on here who said letters, phone calls, etc are of no use...Thanks for nothing. You were at least temporarily wrong. Revolution will not be required today.

To everyone who did reach out to your representatives or the ATF...Thank you. You at least bought us some time.

Probably realized anything pertaining to braces could just be included in Sleepy Joe's EO on his first day.

I bought mine already built via FFL so they had my info anyway. Giving them my name and address with my comments was already redundant so I didn*t care.

As of this moment, the document is still posed and shows the site is still taking comments.

I could be wrong, but something "smells bad" about the ATF retreating on this.
