I'm not considering attaching the vibrator to the wood, just cutting a piece of wood the diameter of the bottom of it and fastening that to the table. That would stop it from walking away but not hold it down. I don't think it jumps.

I wouldn't, the vibrating creates an unbelievable amount of noise. Put it on the floor with a piece of carpet under it
