Re: Elmer Keith's .38/44 up for grabs.
IIRC , he did blow up a few Colt SAA's in .44 Spl.
I read a lot of his work growing up. He still wrote for G&A. His writings encouraged me to try long-range sixgun shooting and even a few fun-filled years of IMSHA shooting.
Still , I'm not paying 25G for any firearm just because of it's celebrity provenance , not even Elmer.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: Elmer Keith's .38/44 up for grabs.
Mr Keith would verbally abuse anyone who paid that much for a firearm. Except for a collector who is expecting some appreciation. He'd probably still make sport of the buyer.
They have another one for just $995 (as of Dec 25 2020). That and a crate of ammunition would probably be less than $3,000. "Practice, practice, practice".

I'm a 72 yr old old timer. Read and have a number of Keith's books. Always admired Elmer. Still, my guess is that 90% of shooters under 50 would ask, "Who is Elmer Keith?"
