I might be able to afford one of those. This one is where all the magnum stuff started though. I'd have to gut my collection selling off enough to get this one. It belongs in a museum IMO.

I don't believe he blew up any 44spl's. He did blow up a 45 Colt which is what caused him to switch to the 44 caliber.

I thought that might have been the case, but not the type of thing I'm going to bother looking up at quarter to 6 in the morning.

IIRC , he did blow up a few Colt SAA's in .44 Spl.

I read a lot of his work growing up. He still wrote for G&A. His writings encouraged me to try long-range sixgun shooting and even a few fun-filled years of IMSHA shooting.

Still , I'm not paying 25G for any firearm just because of it's celebrity provenance , not even Elmer.

Mr Keith would verbally abuse anyone who paid that much for a firearm. Except for a collector who is expecting some appreciation. He'd probably still make sport of the buyer.

They have another one for just $995 (as of Dec 25 2020). That and a crate of ammunition would probably be less than $3,000. "Practice, practice, practice".

I'm a 72 yr old old timer. Read and have a number of Keith's books. Always admired Elmer. Still, my guess is that 90% of shooters under 50 would ask, "Who is Elmer Keith?"
