9mm EDC ammo for winter
Normally my carry ammo is Hornady Critical Defense, however in winter I prefer ammo designed for penetrating multiple layers. Any new offerings I should be aware of? For when things open up again, of course.

I figure that the hoodlums in Philthytown use whatever they can find and it works pretty good so I'm not particular.

Re: 9mm EDC ammo for winter
Critical Defense is supposed to work with clothing. The rubber tip prevents cloth from being "cut" and "clogging up" the tip. The FBI tests used four layers of denim over calibrated ballistic gel. Hornady claims that this tip satisfies the FBI criterion. I've haven't yet seen any exceptions from 3rd party testing.
If you have some ratty winter clothing, not suitable for donation or dog bedding, you could try some test shots. You only need to look for presence of cloth in the hollow point.
I went to FMJ in my 380 edc because CD is a bit too well engineered. They calibrated the bullet to handle a range of penetration that isn't sufficient for some of the obese clowns we have around here. I've since concluded that traditional handguns like the 25 acp, 32 acp and 380 acp probably should be used with FMJ or perhaps some of the Lehigh/Underwood products.

Naw. Will be sticking with Gold Dot 9+p in the Shield. A round for all seasons.

All the testing seems to suggest that HST works fine whether you're popping through a bunch of clothing or not.

Mix/stagger the rounds. FMJ, tipped, Lehigh Defense. One of them will get to where you want.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
