Default Carrying at State Police barracks?

I have to go to the local barracks to have a written warning verified, is carrying while there legal? I remember reading “detention facilities” in the state law being off limits, does a state police barracks count as a detention facility since they have holding cells? Thanks in advance

To my knowledge- NO State Police barracks has holding cells. I'm not aware of any other issues that would prohibit you from the property, and it's not likely you will be admitted any further than the lobby

There are far more knowledgeable people that can quote carry exceptions better than I so I leave it to them, to correct me if needed

Have done so without a problem. One trooper was grumpy but he is a known anti gun bigot who has subsequently been spoken to about his behavior in regards to gun owners.

No reason you should have to go past the lobby.

Sign on the door says "no weapons" at the local barracks. Parking lot is fine however.

Thanks all for the info. No sign on the door at the one I went to and was in and out.

I*ll bet the sign is a preemption violation. Some penn dot locations have them. Doesn*t make them legal.

I don't understand the hesitation. Don't state police troopers take an oath to uphold the constitution of the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

No. It's been changed to "go home safe and protect my pension."

Carrying into a police station lobby is not illegal. If they ask you go follow them into the back which could be classified as a secure detention facility, that may be a different story. I highly doubt that would ever happen unless you're already in cuffs.

The 2 barracks I was in just recently for work(Clarion and Marienville) had the "No Weapons" signs. I didn't see any holding cells, nor even any place where they would chain down a suspect to a table/bench/etc.

I don't recall seeing holding cells them in the Somerset, Somerset Turnpike, or Avonmore barracks either.

I left my toys in the car anyways. The company I contract to is notoriously anti-gun.
